Some Days Really Suck…and Some Days It’s Worth a Shot
Despite the fact that I know a lot of words, I really am a fan of simplicity and clarity. “Be precise and be concise” was the motto I used to impose on my poor Composition students. So I’m not a huge fan of the blah, blah, blah that often pervades the work environment. Last summer, as part of an accreditation, I was required to create a professional goal, and my guidelines were overwhelmingly unspecific.
I couldn’t resist sending the following to my supervisor. Because, hey, what if she said yes….
Cruising through my photos recently, I found the picture again, and it occurred to me that I really should be doing more of this. Seize the moment; just ask; take a chance. It’s true that the answer might just be “no”, you might not get picked, or you might not succeed. But if you don’t try, you don’t have a chance. Might as well go for it.
Yeah, some days really suck…and some days it’s worth a shot.
